Forsberg beats Habs

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=185955&hubname=nhl

I went to the canadiens game on saturday when they played Peter Forsberg. Although Forsberg is the best player in the world, he plays on one of the worst teams, after coming off a win to the best team in the league the canadiens really should have beat the flyers. They canadiens clearly had shutting forsberg down in mind as they constantly had him double teamed, but this only worked about twice in the entire game as every other time he deked through everyone and did whatever he wanted. The only thing the canadiens were succesful with was not letting forsberg get a shto on goal but he did make plenty of amazing plays. Kovalev started the scoring off 8 minutes into the game taking the puck into the zone deking by a defender and ripping a slap shot over the shoulder of nittymaki from the top of the left circle. Early in the second period defencemasn joni pitkanen gave a pass to kapanen infrotn of the net and he scored. mike knuble then scored on an ugly garbage goal shove in rebound 16 minutes into the second although the canadiens might have been in awe after forsberg made an amazing play to get the puck to simon gagne. After kiilling off 2 penalties, with one secodn left in their last power play simon gagne got the puck next to the boards and one timed the puck and fanned on it still scored also with about 20 seconds left in the period. In the third period kovalev had the puck on the powerplay and made an incredibly pass threough traffic right into koivus blade for a goal. The canadiens rallied to get the tying goal but when the momentum was with them, michael ryder caughed up the puck to simon gagne and sheldon souray coughed it back up to him a second time to let him score. That's how the game finished.

I was so happy to be at this game regardless of what happenned because I got to see my two idols Alex Kovalev and Peter Forsberg all at once. They both played amazing, I wish forsberg would have taken at least one shot on net, he's too un selfish and tries to make everyone around him better which is what he flyers need, but at the same time he can win games all by himself. He made a lot of ncie plays though, a lto of nice plays. They both played up to their reputations, Kovalev handled the puck amazingly and deked so many defenders made so many ncie passes and scored an extremly nice goal and made an extremly nice pass, he played really well. Forsberg made nice passes and did everything he couldve done but he is not really palying with anyone he needs play to his potential. Simon Gagne and him arent clicking this year. David Aebischer didnt really play well as he let in pretty soft goals. We need to do something to Michael Ryder because everyone is still loving him over his breakout season before the lockout but since then he hasnt done very much. He is playing awfully this year, when Higgins was playing it was koivu and higgins, not ryder, he did ntohing. I like koivu though, i think i thought too little of him but he makes nice plays although sometimes he tries to be fancy when he really doesnt have the skill to do so, he does to a certain extent but hes no kovalev or forsberg.

Habs Beat Best

On Friday November 27th the canadiens played the buffalo sabres in a game that was probably seemd to be that the canadiens would lose and that would be that. The sabres scored the first goal of the game with an effort from spacek assisted by campbell. Huet played an amazing game making a ton of huge and really nice saves. Koivu then scored off a pass from ryder at 8:21 into the third period. The game went into overtime and with a mere 4 seconds left alex kovalev was going into the sabres zone, with 4 seconds left any player would shoot the puck as hard as possible and hope it goes in but kovalev is not like every other player as he remained patient, deked by 2 defenceman in order to get the puck to souray, souray took a quick shot and scored with half a second left in overtime. Huet made 29 saves on 30 shots.
Kovalev is the best player on the canadiens and i will admit at times he choses not to play his best, but everyone knows when he does he is second behind forsberg as the best player in the world. He is a magician with the puck and can control it however he wants, he can control the game and do whatever he feels like doing because of his incredible vision his strength and his puck control. His line has been playing a lot better then koivus line lately, kovalev and samsonov should be koivu's wingers on the first line, ryder hasn't doing anything productive in the past2 seasons and higgins is injured.

Ken Hitchcock gets hired

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=Ap_4Bm_tRBZxVOrfMB6_jtZ7vLYF?slug=ap-bluejackets-hitchcock&prov=ap&type=lgns
Ken hitchcock former philadelphia flyers head coach who was fired about a month ago by the team after a loss to the buffalo sabres 7-0, was re-hired by the columbus blue jackets. dan snider, the president of the philadelphia flyers commented on the firing of hitchcock saying the 7-0 loss to buffalo was his last straw before he had to make changes. the flyers hired hitchcock as a scout though. the struggling columbus blue jackets also fired their head coach and on sunday the 19th of november the blue jackets interviewed hithcock and only 2 days or so later announced him as their new head coach. it was said that the reason hitchcock was blamed for the poor performances by the flyers was because of how much he yelled at his players and devellopped a very negative atmosphere.
I kind of think hitchcock is a nice guy so i'm happy he got a new job. i jsut hope he choses a different coaching stragedy with his new team, because in sports and in life, when you yell at someone it will not get you anywhere positive and in turn probably make things worse. peter forsberg is the captain of hitchcocks old team the philadelphia flyers, and he is the best hockey player in the world. i hope hithcock well with his new team.

Kovalev beats Wild

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=185528&hubname=nhl

Alex Kovalev and the montreal canadians beat the minnesota wild last night. the two koivu brothers saku and mikku played each other. the canadians were winning 2-0 by goals from kovalev and steve begin, the canadians then let the wild score 2 goals to make it 2-2. but from a spectacular pass from alex kovalev, radek bonk banked in the canadians 3rd goalto make the score 3-2. mike komesarik ten scored on the empty net to make it 4-2. kovalev was 3rd star of the game.

i think kovalev is an amazing player and without him the canadians would lacka great amount of skill, especially with higgins out too. im happy that the canadians won and kovalev played really well.

Has forsberg finally soolved his ankle porrgl23ms?

After being forced to have his ankles surgically realligned with the rest of his foot, Petey is feeling some setbacks. Forsberg still cant find a skate that fits his foot prefectly. His feet still roll around in his skates, which is what made him go off balance the other night while getting hit and hurting his back. Forsberg took a game off 2 weeks ago to rest his ankle and search for the perfect skate. In the end he found a solution, to use a certain type of brace, but the brace only caused his foot to roll in his skate.
Forsberg is the best player in the entire world. It is so unofortunate for him that he cant find a skate. Without Forsberg the Flyers have not been doing so well. It has been rumored that Forsberg may be traded back to his former team the Avalanche too. That would be amazing as I dont like the Flyers and Forsberg is my favorite player.

Malkin almost wins it for pens

The penguins were down 3-1 when Evgeni Malkin stripped the boston player of the puck scoring a beautiful goal to make it 3-2. Then with 30 seconds leftin the game Malkin set up a beautiful play with Mark Recchi in order to tie it up. Then in overtime Malkin had a partial breakaway after bolting past the defenceman, deked out tim tomas only to let the puck hit the post, bounce back and hit thomas and stay on the goal line.MArco Sturm won the game for Boston in a shootout. Pittsburgh did all this without one of their 2 key players, Sidney Crosby.

I think even though the Bruins are really bad it is so good how Malkin single handedly almost beat them. The rest of the penguins were playing awfully and Malkin played so well and did everything himself along with Fleury and Gonchar. Fleury made a huge and amazing save towards the end of the game to keep the penguins, its too bad they couldnt capitalize and win.

Touch Luck for jeff

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=AvqVMQfDJjIv3HBJOV1CXDB7vLYF?slug=ap-flyersmoves&prov=ap&type=lgns

i jsut typed a long blog on this and i pressed public post and it didnt post, so i dont feel like typing it all over again so i will type a shorter version of it.

jeff carter has had a slow start to this season coming off a good rookie season with 23 goals 19 assists. he broke his ankle and was close to coming back says coach steves and now he suffered a set back hruting his ankle again and iwll be out at least 6 weeks.

i feel real bad for jeff carter, i think him and his linemate mike richards have hada slow start to this season ebcause of the lack of confidence given by ex caoch ken htiochock. coach stevens is now working on mike richards by letting him play with peter forsberg on the first line to give him confidence. if carter was in hed be playing with simon gagne on line 2, this is a great idea by coach stevens, but its too bad carter is hurt and cant benefit from it.

Higgins gone for 6 weeks

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=Ak3C3UTDMekYBouvDriHY9x7vLYF?slug=ap-canadiens-higgins&prov=ap&type=lgns

After hurting leaving the ice when hurting his ankle in the game against the devils on saturday, chris higgins came back to the game still in "a lot of pain" and played and his ankle. Unfortunatly for higgins, he was unaware of how badly he injured his ankle, and going back to play only made it worse. chris partially tore a ligament in his ankle. this means he will be out of the lineup for a minimum of 6 weeks (originially 4, but now said to be 6). higgins leads the habs with 8 goals and 3 shorthanded goals. he is the canadians best young sniper and the canadians suffer a great loss without chris. guillaume latendresse will replace higgins on the ryder-koivu-higgins line.

i tihnk this is very bad for the canadiens. they had a great start to the season along with chris higgins having a fantastic start, hopefully higgins playing well wasnt what got the habs going. i have not been veyr impressed with how latendresse has been playing, he seems to be extremly nervous, hopefully playing on the top line will give him the boost he needs. after watching the oilers habs game last night with latendresse on the first line, latendresse scored an ugly first NHL goal, but did play decent, but was shaky in the shootout as he fanned on the backhand. i think the fans are putting too much pressure on him by chanting GUI and compaying him to guy lafleur all the time.
