No "C" for the Kid

A couple of weeks ago, there were talks about perhaps Sidney Crosby becoming the new captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins. When asked, Sidney said his focus is not on becoming the captain, if he were to become the new captain he would be honored but his focus is having a great start to the season instead. The head coach of the Penguins, Michel Therrien, announced today that the Penguins would play this season without a captain, to honor Mario Lemieux and what he has done for them. Meanwhile, Alexander Ovechkin turned down an offer to become the captain of the Washington Capitals, saying it would be too hard for him because his english is not good enough to communicate with his teammates as much as a captain is supposed to.

I was kind of hoping Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin would both become captains, because I like them both a lot. It may also be good that neither of them are captains because it is a huge responsibility, and with that comes pressure, and with them being as young as they are, (19 and 21) many people would be against it, therefore adding more pressure for them to do well as captains and players, all that pressure could definitly hurt Sidney or Alexander's play. I'm sure Crosby will be captain next season though. But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter who plays the best and who is better between them, all that matters is their both a lot better then brandon.
