Bad hockey player, bad human being

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=AunvwBZklu.akD9FBipfdKF7vLYF?slug=cp-nhl_domi_stronach&prov=cp&type=lgns

Tie Domi, the former Toronto Maple Leafs pest who retired a few weeks ago, due to the Maple Leafs not being interested in resigning him (perhaps a move for the Leafs trying to get people to not hate them so much). Tie Domi was a player who hardly scored, and probably had 30 times more penalty minutes then playing minutes. Rumor has it, before becoming a hockey player, Tie Domi was once w\one of Santa's Elfs, and then one day he wished to become an extremly overpaid hockey player in the NHL who had no use to any team, luckily he was immediatly granted of this wish, because Santa wanted him gone after finding out he had been hitting on Mrs. Clause. Well it looks like Tie, has been up to his old games as he has been booted out the house by his wife and got the divorce papers thrown at him. Tie Domi and his wife seperated in 1999, but got back together only for Domi to cheat on her with a politician...after all this was done Tie Domi says hes only sad when he realizes sacking it up with a politician doesn't make you any smarter, sorry Tie but your doomed as a hockey player, intillect and lover.

Personally I don't know why anyone would want to marry Tie Domi. I would be embarassed if I was having a conversation with anyone who is a hockey fan, and have to say "oh ya...I'm married to Tie Domi", I would really be afraid for my life. I think the Toronto Maple Leafs should sue Domi for being so bad and not contributing at all for the team while being paid ridiculous sums of money. I think his ex wife should feel proud for divorcing him, I'm sure she could do better than Tie Domi...I don't know her, but lets face it, anyone can do better then Tie Domi.

To Gui or not to Gui, that is the question

Guillaume Latendresse, a 19 year old Quebecer who attempted to make the cut for the Montreal Canadians last year, and nearly did as he was last cut, this preseason, Guillaume was making a huge name for himself in montreal as fans loved him constantly chanting "Gui! Gui! Gui!", he was playing amazing, and just like last year was impressing imensly, but also proving himself in exhibition games. Well the announcement was made Friday the 29th of September morning, Guy Carbonneau and the Habs, have decided, to Gui. Guillaume Latendresse will sign his contract with the Montreal Canadiens at 10 oclock this morning. The rest of the roster is expected to follow, but Latendresse making the team also marks Kostitsyn's end with the Habs, at least for now.

I think the decision by Carbonneau to keep Latendresse was a great one. When given the motivation and correct discipline, Latendresse ressembles very much the type of player Todd Bertuzzi was before the Moore sucker punch. I really wish Gainey wasn't such a bad GM, and did more this season then give Begin a raise, lose our 6th leading scorer, Jan Bulis, who may I remind you had that 4 goal game last season showing a great deal of potential to be amazing. Along with that, only signing our futur star Chris Higgins for one year, leaving risk of him wanting to leave after this season. If we would get rid of useless players like Bonk, Begin, Sundstrom, Aaron Downey and Garth Murray, we could bring in young talent with the likes of Kostitsyn (both of them), Chipchura, and maybe even make a deal if we were to trade them all. Hopefully Latendresse and Samsonov will be amazing this year.

No "C" for the Kid

A couple of weeks ago, there were talks about perhaps Sidney Crosby becoming the new captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins. When asked, Sidney said his focus is not on becoming the captain, if he were to become the new captain he would be honored but his focus is having a great start to the season instead. The head coach of the Penguins, Michel Therrien, announced today that the Penguins would play this season without a captain, to honor Mario Lemieux and what he has done for them. Meanwhile, Alexander Ovechkin turned down an offer to become the captain of the Washington Capitals, saying it would be too hard for him because his english is not good enough to communicate with his teammates as much as a captain is supposed to.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=177955&hubname=nhl

I was kind of hoping Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin would both become captains, because I like them both a lot. It may also be good that neither of them are captains because it is a huge responsibility, and with that comes pressure, and with them being as young as they are, (19 and 21) many people would be against it, therefore adding more pressure for them to do well as captains and players, all that pressure could definitly hurt Sidney or Alexander's play. I'm sure Crosby will be captain next season though. But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter who plays the best and who is better between them, all that matters is their both a lot better then brandon.

Best Player Ever, and now, Captain

On Thursday, September 14th, a few days after Keith Primeau announced his retirement from the NHL, due to doctors never being able to clear him of post concussion syndrome, rumors surfaced that Peter Forsberg would become the new captain of the Philadelphia Flyers replacing Primeau. Then, people said Simon Gagne would be captain because he is younger and is the "face of the team". Well on September 14th, Peter Forsberg was named the new captain, making him the best player to ever play hockey, and be captain of his team. Peter was very happy when this announcement was named, and said him and General Manager Bobby Clarke spoke about it before the announcement, and Peter is prepared for his responsibilities.

I'm very happy for Peter because he was always a huge leader for every team he played for, but could never be named captain, first because he always played with Joe Sakic, the Colorado Avalanche's captain, who is older then Peter, and has always been their captain, and then last season when he came to Philadelphia, Primeau had already been captain for a while so he could not be replaced either. Now Forsberg is captain and well deserved of it. Unfortunatly Brandon is still player hating on him because Forsberg is a lot more athletically skilled then Brandon.

Dipietro signs 15 year contract

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=177223&hubname=nhl

Rick Dipietro of the New York Islanders re signed with the team today for another 15 years. The salary is worth a total of 67.5 million dollars over the course of the 15 years. DiPietro's agent and the owner of the Islanders, Charles Wang, were speaking about this deal the entire off season, and were always on the same path to getting the deal done, but finally the deal was made on Monday and announced Tuesday at a press conference. Rick DiPietro is very happy with this deal, as well are the entire staff of the New York Islanders because DiPietro is a good goalie, who has played for Team USA in the olympics as well as World Cup tournaments. The deal will pay DiPietro 4.5 million dollars annually.

I think that signing any player for 15 years is extremly stupid. Signing a player for 15 years meaning either you, or a team you trade the player to, is stuck with him for 15 years, or the remaining amount of time on the contract when the player is traded, but the annual pay remains the same. If Rick DiPietro somehow ends up to be bad this coming season and for the rest of his career ends up being like Jose Theodore, then the Islanders are going to be stuck paying a bad goalie 4.5 million dollars every year, or they can trade him, but no team is dumb enough to take a goalie with a salary like that when the goalie is not good. Basically in general I think it was a bad idea. But I find it interesting that the 15 year deal is the second longest in NHL yesterday, behind Wayne Gretzky's 21 year deal with the Edmonton Oilers. The only sports deal that was longer then that one, was Magic Johnson's 25 year, 25 million dollar deal.

Forsberg avoids second ankle surgery

The man known as the best hockey player ever, Peter Forsberg, recently avoided a second of two ankle surgeries he was supposed to recieve over the post season, and at the beginning of the NHL season (in July and about September). Forsberg had to have surgies performed on both his ankles due to inflamation, leading to his ankles being out of place. He always had pain in his ankles but always kept playing, and was still the best, but since he played with his ankles injured they just got worse until the point where he could not put his skates on because of his out of place ankles. The first surgery he had was a sucess and his ankle is fully recovered although he now has to rebuild the strength in his ankle. Doctors said in the end he only needed one surgery performed, which means he avoided his second one and instead of being sidelined until January, he can now start the season October 5th.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=171071&hubname=

I am very happy that Peter does not have to miss any season games due to his surgeries. He has bad luck with injuries, but mostly just because he is very agressive and takes a lot of risks, which means more injuries. I hope he can play the entire season this year and have the most goals, assists and points in the league. I was very angry when I heard he would not be able to play until January, but now that I know he will not miss any games I'm happy. On another note, his teamate and linemate Simon Gagne just resigned with the Philadelphia Flyers (Forsbergs team) for 5 more years.

Who Has What In Canada

Today in economics class I read a stencil called "Who Has What in Canada". The main topic discussed in this package is wealth and statistics of students in Canada. Basically, 17% of Canada is under the poverty line which divides the salary income that makes a person wealthy or poor. It shows information on how people who are wealthier are happier with their lives and happier people in general. The article states that 74% of 17 year olds do not drop out of school at that age. It also mentioned other countries percentages of 17 year olds who are still in school, and most countries have at least 15% more 17 year olds in school than Canada. It mentions our government, and how the reason why when all incomes divided into 5 groups were so much different in each group was because the government was not making it equal for everyone, but it did mention ways the government is trying to help as well.

I found this article to be very helpful for me because now I know the percentage of 17 year olds still in school in Canada and other countries. I also liked learning about the comparisons of how happy people are with a higher income as a pose to a low income.

Peter Forsberg

Peter Forsberg is the greatest hockey player in the world. He plays for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League. Peter was born July 20th, 1973 in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden. He has been playing hockey all his life, along with soccer. He grew up childhood friends with the Vancouver Canucks captain, Markus Naslund. Peter is a centerman, shoots left, he is 6 feet tall and 205 pounds. He was drafted into the NHL by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1991 #6 overall. He got traded to the Quebec Nordiques before the 1991 season for Eric Lindros, because Lindros refused to play for the Nordiques. The Nordiques then moves to Colorado, changing their name to the Avalanche. Peter was the assistant captain to Joe Sakic. He totalled many points in few games due to injuries, such as 55 points in 39 games, his best season was when he recorded 116 points in the full 82 games, but in his second Sophmore year in the NHL. Before being drafted, Peter played for Modo Hockey Ornskoldsvik in the Swedish Elite league. He just recovered from an ankle surgery.

Peter Forsberg is my favorite hockey player and always has been, he is #21, and I always try to pick the closest number to 21 that I can get on my hockey teams. He is also a very nice person judging by his press conferences and interviews, I think he is the greatest hockey player ever and he is god, he has also always played for Sweden in the Olympics and World Cups. Whenever he is not hurt his team wins because of him.
